Musical Background

My earliest memory of being on stage in front of an audience was when I was 4 years old at the Electric light club (Aldermans green, Coventry ) My Dad had asked me to get up & sing. I would`nt & he promised to buy me something new the next day if I did, so I got up & sang a song called Little mr baggy britches.(a song my gran would have known) The next day my dad bought me a pale blue plastic handbag. That was probably the most rewarding thing I ever did.

School Days

My bestfriend carol at school had a good voice & we used to sing in the playground,we sang Everley brothers songs & I used to harmonize with her & we sounded good together.
We were asked to sing at school in front of parents & children, we were good & people liked our singing. It started from there really.

Talent Competitions

When I was 14 Years old my school friends dared me to enter a local talent competition being held at the Ritz cinema in coventry. I sang Brenda lee`s Jump the broomstick But the band didnt know it so I sang it to just a drum beat & won it.After that I went on to join Johnny & the rebels & worked round coventry.
I got a taste of working with a band & decided I wanted to form my own band, So I hand picked my band members from the best bands around at the time. I went under the name Jackie Laine.
One of the gigs we used to do was every sunday lunch time at the craftsman pub in Radford, On one of these occasions I was approached by a man from London who had been listening to me sing, He told me he would make a contact & I would hear soon.
Yeah Yeah I thought.
